Unlocking Unconscious Bias

What tends to happen when taking steps to become demonstrably more inclusive, is that organisations start to employ a more diverse range of talent which is of course essential. That said, there are other important elements to be addressed that are too often overlooked, for example, the company culture and the underlying attitudes that influence every touch point of internal and external operations. When these are not explored and revealed, for example, microaggressions, overt assumptions, unacknowledged privilege and so on, talent realises not enough is being done by and in the company, there is a glass ceiling and they leave.

My partner and I have developed a unique approach that is delivered via interactive workshops, to support organisations and individuals to understand unconscious bias.

The Workshops

We offer two five hour workshops (including breaks). The first one focuses on ‘understanding and revealing’. We walk attendees through what unconscious bias is, how it shows up in the orgs industry, language, action, approach and policies. The unique format enables participants to uncover where unconscious bias resides in them too - a personal reflection process. Participants leave with a clear understanding of unconscious bias and where it resides in them and solutions to create a balanced mindset.

In the second workshop, we create an inclusive, safe environment to enable orgs to map out areas within their business where there are opportunities to progress in a way which is inclusive and will enable a successful inclusion approach.

The workshops are in person - this is an incredibly strong foundation to unpicking unconscious bias and can be reported on too meaning you're able to provide the board with tangible data.

Richard & Nina

This is a completely unique offering supported by the fact we are a multi racial husband and wife team - we provide an open setting for attendees to recognise how unconscious bias shows up. With awareness, positive change can occur. We lift the bonnet on unconscious bias so leaders and teams can understand where it shows up and how positive change can be made. It's aimed at orgs who are fully committed to change, inclusion and belonging.

The workshops require an attitude of openness in order to ensure attendees are prepared for 'that' awkward conversation.

The aim is to get comfortable with discussing diversity and its richness. The unspoken is usually because it's uncomfortable and that's why unconscious bias is able to continue to mar the industry.

Combining Richard's experience as a psychotherapist who specialises in unconscious bias with my Agency background, mindfulness and coaching techniques, ensures an approach which is potent, revealing, reflective and solution focused... Purely for organisations who are fully committed to positive change.
